Why we started.
Hermitage Care was founded by Sunil Mohan Bassi, who spent more than a decade working in NDIS disability services across Melbourne before starting this organisation. In that time, he saw the same problems appear at provider after provider: participants with complex needs being shuffled between workers every few weeks, families unable to get a straight answer from anyone, and plans sitting underspent because nobody was coordinating properly.
He started Hermitage with one principle: every participant deserves a named person who knows their goals, their routine, and what a good day looks like for them. Not a rotating roster. Not a call centre. A real human being who picks up the phone and already knows the context.
We are registered across 12 NDIS support categories (Provider No. 4321 460 93) and cover all of metropolitan Melbourne, covering everything from daily personal care and support coordination through to behaviour support and community nursing. We are not the largest provider in the city, and that is intentional. We would rather serve fewer participants well than spread ourselves thin and compromise the quality of care.
