About This Service

Behaviour Support

Our behaviour support practitioners are registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and hold qualifications in psychology and allied health. We conduct functional behaviour assessments to understand the reasons behind challenging behaviours — not just what happens, but why. From there, we develop a positive behaviour support plan that gives participants, families, and support workers practical, evidence-based strategies to use every day. We also work to reduce and eliminate the use of restrictive practices wherever possible, and provide training to everyone involved in the participant's care.

FAQ

Common questions about behaviour support.

What is a positive behaviour support plan?+
A positive behaviour support plan is a written document that identifies why challenging behaviours occur and outlines practical, evidence-based strategies to address them. The focus is on understanding the underlying cause and preventing the behaviour from occurring, not on punishment or restriction.
Are your behaviour support practitioners NDIS registered?+
Yes. Our practitioners are registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as required under the NDIS (Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support) Rules 2018. They hold relevant qualifications in psychology or allied health.
How long does a behaviour support assessment take?+
A functional behaviour assessment typically takes two to four weeks, including direct observations, interviews with the participant, family members, and support workers, and the writing of the formal assessment report. We move as efficiently as we can without cutting corners on the observation period.
Can behaviour support help reduce restrictive practices in my care?+
Yes — this is one of the primary goals of positive behaviour support. We work with participants, families, and the full support team to identify alternatives to restrictive practices and develop a plan to reduce or eliminate their use over time. Any remaining restrictive practices must be authorised and are subject to ongoing review.
